Grunions
Salt
Sticky rice (uncooked)
Chili powder (e,.g. gojuragu)
Sugar
MSG
Chili paste (e.g. Sambal Oelek)
Wash fish in salt water
Drain
Mix fish with salt evenly, fish:salt ratio of 10:1
Brine in container for 2 days
Make roasted powder of sticky rice, fish:rice ratio of 10:2
Mix fish with roasted rice powder
Add chili powder
Marinate 1 month
Take out of fermentation jar and put into storage jars
At eating time, add sugar and MSG, chili paste to taste
